The neck roll side is gentler than the traction v side, and hence easier to get used to. There may be an adjustment period to using this pillow for the first few days. I've tried a few pillows to find which one is best for neck support. This one is the best for me. It is shaped and feels like a real pillow but has stability sewn into it to make it more supportive. Very smart design. It is much better than trying to sleep with a rolled towel under my neck because the towel just moves around in the middle of the night and wakes me up.The Arc4life Traction Pillow is a regular pillow with added neck support. With it I get a deeper, better night's sleep and my neck feels better in bed and in the morning. Going to stick with this pillow. At this point I'm not sure how durable it is over time so can comment on that at a later date.
